Tangelo's Veggie Burger Salad is as Good as it is Green

This week's Local Flavor feature comes fresh off of Beach Blvd. in downtown Gulfport. Tangelo's Grille is known for its Caribbean dishes and colorful atmosphere.

It is safe to say that Tangelo's Grille is a taste of the islands. Recipes complete with jerk seasoning and tropical infusions complete the menu at the Beach Blvd. restaurant. Brightly colored decorations emit a vivacious energy that is comparable to a beach lifestyle. Music hums through the air while quick, friendly service is at your fingertips. After skimming the lunch menu a few times, I decided to go with the Jerk Veggie Burger Salad ($7.50). The veggie patties are prepared in-house, so it isn't that soy-wannabe-burger stuff. They are made with brown rice, black beans and jerk seasoning just before being deep fried. The patty is then laid atop a bed of greens, bell peppers, red onion, tomatoes and carrot sticks. T and Me's Melt in Your Mouth Griddled Bagel

Local favorite, T and Me, offers a variety of culinary creations and baked goods. I decided to take a whirl of one of their famous breakfast options.

With all the local restaurants and made-to-order specialties in and near Gulfport, we know you have an important decision to make! Where to have breakfast, lunch or dinner right here in town. Each week, we'll fill you in on something delicious! T and Me Tea Company has become a staple in the Art Village Courtyard. From the creativity in the kitchen to the friendly service, guests can always feel at home at T and Me. This week, I tried the Robert's Sandwich ($3.95). With a griddled bagel for bread and a slew of ingredients used for stuffing, it is safe to say that I will definitely be making regular visits to T and Me.  The menu's description of the sandwich is as follows: "avocado, tomato and cheddar cheese on a griddled bagel."
