Stop by Hoyt Field any Tuesday, Thursday or Saturday in Gulfport and you'll hear laughter, jokes and cheers during a friendly softball game on the field. Although school is out for the summer, these players don't rely on seasons to take a break for a ball game. The Gulfport Boomerangs is a senior softball team with participants 55 and up. The men have years of life experience, wisdom and tales to tell . . . of course, they leave it all off the field during each game and just have fun like the good ol' days.
