Gulfport Woman's Death Linked to Love Triangle

Investigators have launched a manhunt to find the suspect in the shooting death of Destynee Burkes of Gulfport and a second shooting of a man in St. Pete.

Investigators are asking for the public's help in finding the suspect in the shooting death of Detynee Burkes, 24, of Gulfport and the shooting Monday of a St. Petersburg man at an apartment building. In a press conference Tuesday, the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office and St. Petersburg Police Department announced that Jamaal Jenkins is the suspect in both incidents. Investigators said that Jenkins, Destynee Burkes and Tieyannie Hollis – the second shooting victim – were involved in a love triangle that turned violent. On Jan. 7, Burkes was found shot to death, execution style, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office. Police SWAT Team at Villa Grande South

A man is standing outside with a gun. The public is advised to stay away from that area until further notice.

UPDATE, 9:15 a.m.: Police advise that the situation is now resolved, with the suspect in custody. ORIGINAL POST: SWAT team members are currently at a home at Villa Grande South, where there is a 58-year-old man standing outside with a handgun. St. Petersburg Police say that at least one shot has been fired. The man is reportedly threatening to hurt himself. The media are being asked not to use helicopters. The public is advised to stay away from that area. The media are gathered at Mango Avenue and Villa Grande Avenue South.
