Forget the Grand Prix, which roars through St. Petersburg this weekend. The movie opened to a limited release Friday, which means you'll have to wait to see it when it's released nationally March 22.
The movie 'Spring Breakers', which was shot at various places in the Tampa Bay area, including Corey Avenue and at the Gulfport Police Department, opened in limited release Friday to mostly positive reviews. According to the site Rotten Tomatoes, which compiles the average of 'fresh' and 'rotten' reviews, has certified 'Spring Breakers' as fresh with 70 percent positive reviews. A few scenes from the soon-to-be-released movie were filmed in Gulfport and now you can listen to some of the soundtrack.
Last year scenes from the movie 'Spring Breakers' were filmed in Gulfport, including the Gulfport Police Department. Gulfport Patch was able to snap a couple photos from the shoot last year. The soundtrack has now been released, which you can hear above or by clicking here. One of those featured on the soundtrack is St. Petersburg rapper, Dangeruss. Other artists on the soundtrack include: Skrillex, Ellie Goulding, Wake Flocka Flame and Cliff Martinez. The Tampa Bay-area filmed Spring Breakers is not shying away from touting St. Petersburg and area beach towns in the film, and it's doing the same in its soundtrack. Fan site SpringBreakersFilm.com released the line-up of the film's soundtrack, and it turns out that one song featuring James Franco has a heavy connection to St. Pete. Rumor has it, James Franco is rocking dreadlocks in the film "Spring Breakers." Franco and Selena Gomez were spotted Tuesday morning in Gulfport at the Gulfport Police Department. The sealed off parking lot seemed to be the perfect fit for a police station backdrop. This is the second time the crew has filmed at the Gulfport Police Department. Last Tuesday, Selena Gomez, Vanessa Hudgens and Ashley Benson shot scenes inside the department.

Producers of the movie, now in production on St. Pete Beach, have put out the call for female extras who don't mind shedding their bathing suit tops for some quick cash: $150.
