Santa Speedo Run Moved to Ybor
For the past two years the Santa Speedo Run fundraiser has ignited holiday cheer in downtown Gulfport. This year, organizers are moving the event to Ybor.
Why wear a Speedo in December? For the fun run silly! The annual Santa Speedo Run is not only a fundraiser for a good cause but a celebration of the classic swim brief. The 1-mile Santa Speedo run began in December 2010 in Gulfport with a handful of runners in less than ideal Florida weather. Last year, the event lured 130 participants and many more onlookers. Organizers shattered their fundraising goal and collected more than $30,000 for ASAP. While many Gulfport residents look forward to the annual run, organizers have made the difficult decision to move the fun run to a larger venue.
