This may have not been a typical December week in Gulfport with daily highs in the 80s and lots of bright sunshine, but it is not far from typical. My mom and cousin left St Pete/Clearwater Airport around 3:30 pm or today with new suntans, cool gifts and souvenirs for family up north, and flip-flips on their still sandy feet. They called about 7:00 pm after safely landing in Michigan with …   more ›

Photo Gallery: Casino Royale on the Bay

Huge thanks to Rob Fowler for sharing some amazing photos of people trying their luck at the fundraiser "Casino Royale on the Bay!"

Gamblers didn't have to fly to Las Vegas to hear the chims of slot machines and rolling the dice among a cheering crowd! The Historic Gulfport Casino Ballroom turned into a Vegas-style casino on Thursday, Nov 8 as part of a fundraiser for the Gulfport Area Chamber of Commerce and Gulfport Senior Center. Gulfport resident Rob Fowler stopped by the event, snapped some amazing action shots and uploaded them in our neighborhood photo gallery, "Gulfport Pics & Clips!" We  . . . well, I am ever-so-excited to see the photos in the photo gallery! Huge thank you to Rob Fowler for sharing your experience and what you saw through your camera lens with all of us at Gulfport Patch! Want to share your photos of the event and/or the other benefits during…

I love sunsets, with the dramatic edges and shadows of late day thunderstorms or clouds on the western horizon, but the sounds of a quiet sunrise make the dawn experience special. One of the qualities of a sunrise include the early morning people who are fishing, jogging, walking, or otherwise find that purpose in life to be awake when everybody else is sleeping in bed. There is no time in …   more ›
