Gulfport Police helped collect unused prescription drugs as part of the semi-annual Operation Medicine Cabinet event on Saturday.
Since Operation Medicine Cabinet began in May 2009, officers across Pinellas County have collected nearly 13,000 pounds of medications including the collection from this past Saturday. On April 27, officials across the county collected 1,545.5 pounds. The event is held twice a year to encourage people to safely discard unused or expired prescription medications. It is a multi-agency effort aimed at addressing the problem of prescription drug abuse and keeping a clean environment, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office. The citations included seven DUIs and one possession of cocaine during the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office operation.
Pinellas County deputies issued 32 citations over the weekend during their monthly DUI Wolf Pack Operation. The citations included: According to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office, "the goal of the Wolf Pack is to target drivers under the influence of alcohol, aggressive driving and other traffic related violations." A document released by the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office details an encounter former deputy Robert Johnson, 42, had with a prostitute, along with several other alleged violations, including giving a prostitute a ride home.
A Pinellas County Sheriff's deputy chose to resign Monday in lieu of termination after an internal investigation found he had misrepresented the facts about an off-duty encounter with a prostitute and violated other department rules, according to the sheriff's office. Robert F. Johnson, 42, had worked at the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office since October of 1999. He was working in the patrol operations bureau at the time of his termination. Late Monday afternoon, the sheriff's office released a copy of the case disposition that detailed Johnson's alleged misconduct. The disposition said that on Sept. 12, 2012, Clearwater Police officers were conducting surveillance of a prostitute in the area of Highland Avenue and Gulf-to-Bay Boulevard. …

Several yachts were broken into at the MarineMax in South Pasadena Thursday.
The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office is investigating a series of break-ins at the MarineMax Yacht Service Center at 6810 Gulfport Blvd. in South Pasadena. Deedee Moss, the Service Administrator, says five yachts were broken into on Thursday, Jan. 10. It happened between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Moss says that although nothing was stolen, the burglars ransacked the boats, pulled out drawers and caused minor damage to one boat. "They didn't take anything, it's really weird," Moss said. Moss says three fishing poles were taken from one yacht but were left on the dock. "They may have gotten spooked," she said of the suspect or suspects. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office at (727) 582-6200.

Just curious...where, and what time of the day was this? My wife and I go out often. We don't drink a lot, but do have 1 or 2 now and then..but not always.
