Saturday night's new year celebration was complete with a live band from Orlando and dance demos for party goers.
Doors to the casino opened around 7:30, but it wasn't until the band started jamming at 8 that the crowd really started to pour in. Dancing and laughter were contagious as locals said "goodbye" to 2011. People dressed in formal attire. From black ties to red-carpet-worthy gowns, guests let their fashion sense come out to play on Saturday night. Beverages included a full cash bar plus complimentary finger foods like sandwiches and cookies. The Caliente band put on a high energy show that kept the place popping through midnight and well into 2012. Cheers to 2012, Gulfport residents! Thanks for letting us be a part of your New Year's celebration and we look forward to making many more memories with you in the coming year.

Although some local food venues are closed, others that are open will be welcoming 2012 with specials menus.
Aside from the adult beverage piece of the New Year’s Eve puzzle, food is also an important element. Some are establishments will be closed, but we got the rundown on who will be open and what they’ll be dishing out. The well known and respected Pia’s Trattoria will be open for business on New Year’s Eve. A special a la carte menu will be in effect. An array of soups, appetizers and entrees will be up for grabs on Saturday. Call for reservations now, because the seats are going fast (727-327-2190). Tickets must be purchased for the dining deal at Stella’s. The ticket will include a prime rib dinner with a shrimp and clam boil. On Saturday night, the ballroom will host a party complete with a live band, prizes and champagne.
Party favors and decoartions will turn the Gulfport Casino Ballroom into a New Year’s Eve celebration station. Workers are already preparing for the huge party on Saturday night. There will be plenty of food and drinks for the masses including chips, sandwiches and a cash bar. We have a couple of Filipino New Year's Eve traditions! Every December 31st, my mom makes a huge spread of food including fruits - especially grapes, mini sandwiches and cake or special breads like raisin or pumpkin.
