After tackling health care in his first term, it looks like President Barack Obama has set his sights on waging another big battle in his second term in office – immigration reform. The president is expected to discuss his plans for reform on Tuesday during a trip to Nevada, but a bi-partisan group of Senators intends to beat him to the punch. The group of eight Senators includes Florida’s own Republican Marco Rubio, according to the Huffington Post. Florida's U.S. Senator Marco Rubio will introduce Mitt Romney Thursday, Aug. 30, to accept the presidential nomination at the Republican National Convention in Tampa, GOP leaders said today. Rubio, once considered a contender as Romney's running mate, will rally delegates at the four-day convention. Paul Ryan, a Wisconsin Congressman, will share the GOP ticket with Romney. Florida is a battleground state in the presidential race. Rubio's support is seen as key in getting the Hispanic vote. Today the United States Supreme Court upheld the Affordable Care Act and its individual mandate, 5-4. Local and state officials were quick to offer a response to today's historic decision, using social media -- Facebook, Twitter -- and traditional media. Gov. Marco Rubio's memoir "An American Son" will be released Tuesday, as speculation continues about whether the Florida politician is on the short list to be Mitt Romney's vice presidential candidate in his GOP bid for the presidency.
