Listen to 'Spring Breakers' Soundtrack

A few scenes from the soon-to-be-released movie were filmed in Gulfport and now you can listen to some of the soundtrack.

Last year scenes from the movie 'Spring Breakers' were filmed in Gulfport, including the Gulfport Police Department.  Gulfport Patch was able to snap a couple photos from the shoot last year.  The soundtrack has now been released, which you can hear above or by clicking here.  One of those featured on the soundtrack is St. Petersburg rapper, Dangeruss. Other artists on the soundtrack include: Skrillex, Ellie Goulding, Wake Flocka Flame and Cliff Martinez.   Spring Breakers, which is rated R, will be released March 22 and stars James Franco, Selena Gomez and Vanessa Hudgens.  According to IMDB, the movie is about:  "Four college girls who land in jail after robbing a restaurant in order to fund their spring break vacation find themselves …

Gulfport Police Officer Jennifer Crowson is named 2012 Officer of the Year for GPD.

Gulfport Police Officer Jennifer Crowson was honored at Gulfport City Hall Tuesday night for her public service and dedication to community programs. Wounded Vet and Vice President of VETSports Brian Taylor Urruela also attended and presented Crowson with a Certificate of Appreciation for her volunteer work in organizing the fundraiser volleyball match on Veteran's Day. "When the police and fire departments were challenged to take part in a fundraising volleyball match against wounded veterans, Officer Crowson volunteered to be our team captain and spokesperson. Tuesday, Feb. 26 Tamara Louise Badger, 44, of St. Petersburg, was arrested by Gulfport Police on the charge of disorderly intoxication, a misdemeanor. Joseph Civita, 65, of Gulfport, was arrested by Gulfport Police on the charge of FTA Motor Vehicles with Tarps, a misdemeanor. George Alston Millet, 34, of St. Petersburg, was arrested by Gulfport Police on the charge of DWLSR, a misdemeanor. Millet posted $1,000 bail. Anthony Todd Okuma, 40, of St. Petersburg, was arrested by Gulfport Police on the charge of VOP DWLSR, a misdemeanor. Okuma posted $500 bail. Pedestrian Sent to Hospital After Crash

Jay Bowman, of Gulfport, is in critical condition at Bayfront Hospital.

A Gulfport man is in critical condition at Bayfront Hospital after he was hit be a Chevrolet Tahoe while crossing a street Wednesday evening.  According to Gulfport Police, at 9 p.m. Wednesday, they were called to 58th Street and 15th Avenue S. Jay Bowman, according to the police report, was crossing 15th Avenue walking north from the southeast corner. While walking, he was struck by a truck that was traveling west.   Police said according to witnesses at the scene, Bowman was at fault for the incident. Man Sentenced to 9 Years For Police Chase Through Gulfport

The driver was sentenced Tuesday for crashing into a PSTA bus while fleeing from police with his then 2-year-old son in a stolen car.

A St. Petersburg man received a nine-year prison sentenced Tuesday for leading Gulfport Police on a stolen car chase with his 2-year-old son in the backseat. Derrick Deon Mims, 22, pleaded guilty to several charges, including fleeing and eluding, grand theft of a motor vehicle, DUI with property damage, and child abuse, according to the Tampa Bay Times. Circuit Judge Keith Meyer sentenced Mims to nine years in prison and revoked his driver's license for life on Tuesday, the Times reports. On July 9, 2012, Mims lead Gulfport Police on a 14-minute police chase, reaching speeds up to 90 mph on Interstate 275 before exiting into a residential neighborhood in St. Petersburg and crashing into a PSTA bus, Gulfport Police Chief Rob Vincent told …

Gulfport Police Search for Serial Arsonist

Nearly 40 suspicious overnight fires have been reported in Gulfport in the past five years. Gulfport Police are asking for your help.

A serial arsonist or arsonists have struck again. Two suspicious fires have been set in alleyways the past two months. That brings the total number of overnight unsolved fires to 39 in Gulfport. Gulfport Police say they only have one eyewitness account from recent fires. In November, someone saw a black male wearing a black-and-yellow striped jacket, jeans, and a dark beanie lighting a fire near Hoyt Park. The witness saw him ride off on a bicycle. That fire happened at 57th Street South and 23rd Avenue South and caused $20,000 in damage to a Progress Energy power pole, police say. It was one of 10 that happened in 2012 alone. Man, 73, Charged With Lewd and Lascivious Battery on Boy in Gulfport

Prometeo Inglesias-Bernal, of Pinellas Park, was known to the 13-year-old victim but was not a family member, Gulfport Police said.

A 73-year-old man has been arrested and charged with lewd and lascivious battery on a 13-year-old boy, a crime that authorities say took place in Gulfport. Prometeo Inglesias-Bernal, of Pinellas Park, "was known to the victim but was not a family member," according to Gulfport Police spokesperson Sgt. Thomas Woodman. Investigators say he performed oral sex on the boy at least once. The incident occurred in mid-January and was investigated by both Gulfport Police and Pinellas Park Police, Woodman said in a media release. "The incident was proven to have occurred in Gulfport but there are also allegations that it occurred in Pinellas Park," Woodman said.
