DUI Checkpoints on U.S. 19 This Weekend

All southbound traffic will go through the overnight checkpoint. Find out the details.

It's never a good idea to drink and drive. Those who take the risk this weekend may very well find out just how bad it can be. The Belleair Police are joining several other agencies to support St. Petersburg Police officers conducting a massive DUI/Safety Point check on U.S. 19. All southbound traffic on 34 Street North (U.S. Highway 19) will be diverted into the check point The checkpoint goes into action Friday, Dec. 14, at 10:30 p.m. It ends at 4 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 15. The DUI/Safety Point operation will take place in the parking lot of the Publix Supermarket, 1700 34th Street North, St. Petersburg. All it is just another way to make a buck. Why don't they ticket all the jay walkers on the street. There is a law against that just as well as for drinking and driving. Every city there will be making money off this DUI check or they wouldn't all be there as St. Petersburg has way more then enough officers to man a DUI check point and keep it moving fluidly.
