Homeowner Fires Shots at Burglar, Police Say

Have you seen this man? Gulfport Police need your help.

Gulfport Police responded to a home in the Pasadena Yacht and Country Club around 12 p.m. on Friday in reference to a burglary and shots fired. A homeowner stated his 11-year-old daughter was home that morning when a man broke a back window to try and get in. The surveillance video showed the man knocking at the front door before walking to the back of the house. The girl called her father who worked only a few miles away. The man came home, armed himself and then saw the suspect running from his house. The man got in a vehicle and followed the suspect to the golf course and drove onto the golf course when the suspect ran onto the course. That's when, officials say, the suspect turned and pointed a gun at the man. The homeowner fired …

One of the other things illustrated by the video is why are you putting in overhead camera ? It's not like a bald spot or ball cap is particularly identifiable. Put them so that they focus on the area where an average height human would be. Rob certainly knows more about this than I do, but that would seem to be common sense.   more ›
