The Gulfport Police Department serves more than 12,500 residents. The department includes Chief of Police Robert Vincent, 29 sworn officers, and 12 civilian employees. Each day is divided into two 12-hour shifts, with four officers and a Seargent on duty per shift. The department has two School Resource Officers at Boca Ciega High School in Gulfport.

The department has a Patrol Division and Investigative Services Division. In addition to street patrols, officers can be seen during bike and marine patrols.

More than one third of the Gulfport Police Departments sworn officers have at least a bachelor's degree.
