Gulfport Weekender: Gecko Ball, Comic Con, Kayak Gulfport

Looking for something fun to do in Gulfport and around the Tampa Bay area this weekend? Look no further.

Gecko Ball: Get ready to boogie the night away in Gulfport! The annual Gecko Ball kicks off Saturday night at 6 p.m. at the Gulfport Casino Ballroom. The theme, "Gecko Night Fever," is sure to provide a colorful backdrop for the evening on the bay. Tickets are SOLD OUT! Those who are going are encouraged to bring cash for the cash bar, silent auction and live auction of geckos created by local artists.

Get Your Geek OnComic book and superhero fans might want to check this one out. Tampa Bay Comic Con takes the spotlight at the Tampa Convention Center Friday, Aug. 23 through Sunday, Aug. 25. The event boasts 75,000 square feet of “comics, cosplay, videos, toys, action figures, video games” and more. Find out more about it on the event’s website.

Backstreet BoysCan’t get enough of that boy band sounds? This blast from the past hits the stage at the MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheater Friday, Aug. 23. Some tickets are still available via Stub Hub.
