This Week in Gulfport: Budget Hearings, Fish Fry, Art Walk

Here's what you need to know this week in Gulfport!

Labor Day Holiday: As part of the Labor Day holiday, several city buildings and offices will be closed today - those include: Gulfport City Hall, Gulfport Public Library and Gulfport Senior Center. The sanitation schedule will not be affected.

Fish Fry: How much fish can you eat? Stop by the Gulfport Lions Labor Day Fish Fry today at 4 p.m. at the Gulfport Lions Den, 4630 Tifton Drive S. Bring the entire family. Cost is $9 for adults and $5 for children under 10. For more information, including the menu, check out the event listing in our free calendar.

Budget Hearings: Gulfport City Councilors will be holding two public budget hearings to hear from you before final adoption of the Operating Budget for FY 2013/14. The first hearing is on Wednesday, September 4 at 7 p.m. at Gulfport City Hall. The second will be held on Wednesday, September 18, also at 7 p.m.

Gulfport Art Walk: That's right, it's September already! That means the next Art Walk is on Friday, Sept. 6 beginning at 6 p.m. in downtown Gulfport. See you there!

Be Prepared Out There: Forecasters at the National Weather Service say our Labor Day,Monday, Sept. 2, should be a hot one in the Tampa Bay area. A high in the low 90s is expected with rain chances around 30 percent or so. Be ready for anything as you head out to those barbecues!
