Gulfport Neighbors Spearhead Beach Cleanup

Help clean Gulfport Beach with the Gulfport Neighbors!

The community non-profit organization, Gulfport Neighbors, is restarting a series of cleanup events in Gulfport.

Organizers are inviting everyone to join them in a beach cleanup on Saturday, Sept. 14 at 9 a.m. at Gulfport Beach. Volunteers should meet at shelter #4 and bring everything needed for a cleanup like trash bags, gloves, sanitary hand wipes or antibacterial gel and a grabber if they have one.

The Gulfport Neighbors are responsible for sparking a series of community cleanup events over the past three years. You may remember the Gulfport Neighbors for bringing together the entire community to help Alan Dreischarf clean up and remodel his home inside and out back in January 2012.

Nearly 100 volunteers tore down fences, cut down trees, patched up his kitchen and fixed up his home inside and out. The volunteer event garnered local media coverage and encouraged everyone to give back. Check out our coverage of the event in this article, "Gulfport Comes Together to Help a Neighbor in Need."
