Typos, Errors, and Thank Yous!

We, the producers of the Annual Gulfport Youth Book Writing Workshop Series and Contest, are so very proud to be a part of this village. We can't begin to list the many thank yous, back-pats, and hugs that you are all due. Businesses, individuals, the Library and its friends, the City and it's staff, the merchant's Association, Pinellas School District, all have brought so much good to the table to make this a fantastic second year. We are truly grateful for your support and contributions to this free youth educational initiative.

Now we just need to get the word out to the kids of Pinellas School District. I can't do it alone. Tell every kid you see, and tell every parent you know as you move through your days from now until September 14 at 11am. We are ready for them in great number. Let's hope they show. This is our second year and once again we have a fabulous, line up of local professional presenters in the field of writing, editing, and publishing.

Please note during GeckoFest our new Author and Sponsor logo t-shirts. Next year, our goal is to provide these shirts, in thanks, to all of the sponsors and the youth participants.

Now a great story. I was plowing through another heaping plate of needs-to-be-done-now tasks at 3am. I quickly scanned my latest 20 something emails and see one that has a great hook in the subject line: "Typos" "Errors." You know I opened that email. How could I not. It addressed two horrifically ironic and glaring errors in the flyer that I had spent the last night and day creating and distributing. I was beside myself with exhaustion but responded immediately.

"OMG! Thank you. I am so grateful that the universe finally hooked us up because I have been desperate for a proofreader, and you seem to have a knack for it. Please, Please be our proofreader. I can't do it all myself." I waited.

He emailed back, "I will probably regret this, but okay." It was in this way that Freddie Agnir came to us, and it was only after he agreed that I discovered his colorful commentary, blogging, journalism, proofreading, poetry composure, teaching, and engineering background. He could not have been more perfectly prepared to join us. From now on, prodessionals will be spelled correctly, as will editers.
