Huge, Huge Thanks for Donated Books to Gulfport Elementary!

Books for Gulfport Elementary.

I wish all of you that dropped a book or two or three into the Gulfport Elementary School bag at Tuesday Fresh Market, could have seen the look on Principal, James Pribble's face when he untied and spied the contents of the bag, Wednesday morning at the school office. He was beside himself with gratitude. You have all done a wonderful, WONDERFUL thing.

Gulfport Elementary is also accepting monetary donations and the services of anyone who wish to be reading and writing coaches, chaperones for fieldtrips, and mentors.

Please go down and volunteer or donate. Either is a welcomed contribution and the kids belong to the village, that means all of us. We can't just lay it at the feet of underpaid, undersupported, and underappreciated educators, who typically have to fund educational efforts from their own personal resources.

Hope to see you there.

And to all of you contributors, including Bruce and Jan of the Small Adventures Bookshop who let us set up at the book store, THANK YOU for the priceless moment of handing off so many gorgeous books to the school. You did good.

All the books are gone, until we can raise the money to buy more! All good news. The School got a bunch and the Library got a stack, too.
