How Can Love and Marriage Be a Threat?

Genocide, throughout history up to current times, has been and is a societal standard. That doesn't make it right.

Ownership of human beings, throughout history and even today, has been and is a societal standard. That doesn't make it right.

Genital mutilation of children is a societal standard. That doesn't make it right.

Not allowing women to be educated, stoning them, raping and beating them, all societal standards. That doesn't make it right.

Clearly, you've not been physically beaten for being gay by a mob of people who had all their rights. I have. Maybe whilst suffering the loss of your loved one you weren't allowed to attend her sick bed or funeral because in the eyes of the societal standard, you had no rights. I have.

Maybe you never lost your friends to baseball bat bashings or stabbings in the name of societal standards. I have. Perhaps you were never raped by those who just wanted you to feel how great societal standards are. I have.

All fair, just and righteous behavior by those who have all their rights and were simply following societal standards.

To those blind, fear-driven, self-righteous zealots:

My friends have been murdered. I have had an entire pandemic inaccurately blamed on me and survived its fear-driven, violent wake.

Tell me, judger, defending your right to be unjust, protecting your right to control others in an attempt to lessen your own personal fears and insecurities, why does me marrying someone I love, threaten you?

How does it hurt or damage you?

In what way does it interfere with you living your life on a daily basis? It doesn't, but all dogs need a bone to chew on and your societal standards gives you me.

We are all supposed to be equal in the eyes of the law. Period. If we are not, it is because of people like you.

The good news is, people die and with them, their ignorance, so change is inevitable. Evolution is inevitable. Archaic thinking like yours is on its way out. You are on your way out.
