Mmmm, Mmmmmm, mmmmm.
I don't much care for cakes or pastries. Ice cream has always been my personal devil, that is, until Melissa Lowe at Stella's started baking her amazing pastry transcreations.
When a book gets translated into another language the translator must often rewrite entire sections in order to convey the information or story, as they perceive it. Therefore, it is not simply a translation but a new creation, a transcreation. That's Melissa Lowe's pastry baking. She is not simply remaking things that have been made before or in a certain way. She is recreating the old into the new. She is birthing flamboyance, delicacy, passion, craving and decadence. Not too much sugar but rather a thick slathering of sweet love in flavorful, taste bud-tantalizing treats. Her cinnamon rolls and cobblers make me weak at the knees.
