Thunderstorms, Waterspouts Forecasted for Gulfport

Frequent lightning and heavy rain are expected for the rest of the week.

A hazardous weather outlook is in effect for Gulfport and all of Pinellas County, with thunderstorms, gusting winds and waterspout activity in the forecast.

The National Weather Service reports that a weak high-pressure pattern is impacting central and west Florida. Frequent lightning and waterspouts along the coast are the biggest threats. The chance of thunderstorms, with heavy rainfall, was for Wednesday afternoon and continued Wednesday night.

People along the coast are asked to stay vigilant, as a waterspout that makes landfall becomes a tornado. The storms are expected to continue for the rest of the week.
