Keep Gulfport Weird Mini Triathlon Coming Soon

Registration is now open for the Sept. 28 fun, family-friendly event in Gulfport!

You don't have to be the best runner, biker or swimmer to participate in Gulfport's premier sporting event! The "Keep Gulfport Weird Mini Triathlon" is a family-friendly event that anyone - in fact - everyone is encouraged to attend.

The annual Keep Gulfport Weird Mini Triathlon includes a 1 mile run, 3 mile bike ride and 1/4 mile swim at Gulfport Beach.

The event is on Saturday, Sept. 28 - the same day as the Tangerine Blues Fest!

Registration is now open for the event. This year, everyone who registers will receive a cool bright orange t-shirt with the Keep Gulfport Weird logo. Just visit this link on the City of Gulfport's website to register. You must register by Sept. 20 to receive the t-shirt. Officials will not have t-shirts for walk ups on the day of the event.

The mini triathlon begins at The Church of Jesus Christ Church parking lot at 5424 Gulfport Blvd. S., then, bike around the Clymer Park Greenways to Shore Blvd. S., to finish with a swim along the beach from Shelter # 7 to the Gulfport Casino Ballroom.

The race is designed to be short enough to invite people of all ages and fitness levels, whether individually or in teams, and is intended to be simply for fun. The competitive component is not the priority, but rather the gathering of community in the spirit of having fun and getting outdoors.

If you would like to volunteer, or if your business is interested in participating, please contact Justin Shea at 727-893-1118.

Just for fun, check out our complete photo gallery from last year's event on Gulfport Patch. More than 100 people participated last year - let's top that, Gulfport!
