Gulfport Beach is looking better and better with waterfront improvements for children and adults. The new beach playground is located near the Gulfport Recreation Center and the volleyball courts near the Gulfport Casino Ballroom have doubled.
The Gulfport City Council Funding is coming from the Capitol Improvement Program budget through the use of Pennies for Pinellas funds.
To celebrate the beach improvements, the city is inviting everyone to come out on Sunday, November 11 at 11:30 and 11:45 a.m. There will be a dedication ceremony and ribbon cutting for the playground at 11:30 and one for the volleyball courts at 11:45.
Originally the times were 12:30 and 12:45 but there will be live music starting at noon for the VETSports vs Gulfport Police and Fire Inaugural Beach Volleyball Benefit, which starts at 1 p.m. The volleyball fundraiser is one of several events going on during the second annual "Heroes Weekend" in Gulfport.
