MoveOn.org to Fly Banner over Romney Speech Today

The progressive activist group will be flying a banner over Romney's speech at the St. Petersburg Pier today.

"The most dishonest debater ever?" That's the message that MoveOn.org plans to deliver today, when former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney speaks at a St. Petersburg rally.

MoveOn.org announced in a press release that it will fly a banner over St. Petersburg that reads, “Most dishonest debater ever?”

Romney's event at the Pier begins at 5:45 p.m. and gates open at 3:45 p.m. According to MoveOn.org, the banner will be in the air over the St. Petersburg Pier from approximately 4:45 - 6:45 p.m.

Earlier today, MoveOn.org flew a banner over Romney’s Virginia stop that read: “Mitt Lies, Big Bird Dies.”

MoveOn.org released a statement about today's banner.

"This airborne demonstration is part of a national effort from MoveOn.org Political Action to hold Mitt Romney accountable on the campaign trail and reveal to voters the truth behind Romney’s plan to tilt our economy and democracy even further in favor of the 1% at the expense of the 99%."

On the ground, local progressive activist group the Florida Consumer Action Network, which recently targetd Florida Congressman C.W. Bill Young, will be protesting Romney's appearance in St. Pete, starting at 3 p.m.

The Action Network, also known as FCAN, released a statement Thursday.

"Despite all of Romney’s spin, the people of Pinellas County aren’t buying it. They know that Mitt Romney would cut taxes for millionaires and billionaires at the expense of those in the middle class. They know that Mitt Romney would gut Medicaid and privatize Medicare by turning it into a voucher system. They know he will protect tax breaks for big oil and for companies that send jobs overseas (yes Mitt, they do exist). They know that he will continue to stand for the 1% at the expense of the 99%."

Gilbert Mike Henry: Actually, "truth-meters" are electronic devices manually held on site by viewers in order to get immediate statistic results as to the assumed and supposed veracity of what is said at the time. This only highlights the importance of independent, non-biased organizations who fact-check in the days that follow an important political event. This process takes time because in order to be done properly there must be properly referenced and dependeable sources. With your reply, you sourced one Floridian newspaper that said they rated "even". First of all, I do hope you see that a newspaper is often incredibly biased towards a political party (whatever lean it might support) and, further, your argument did not even bother to argue that Romney did NOT lie, which I find particularly worrisome. It is with this limited information that I can already ascertain that you are a profoundly biased person; and not a terribly smart one either. As to your "Shake and Bake" symbolism...well, it wasn't terribly witty, but good on you for trying. I just hope for you that you begin to understand that facts are what matter. Not the jokes, the puns, or your snide attitude. I do hope you enjoyed the economic report this morning. The record unemployment low (that is legally required to be politically un-biased in its figures) was a wonderful example of facts speaking for themselves. You know what that is called, Gilbert? Truth. Warm Regards.

Big Turd wants to fund his tax cut on the back of Big Bird. Mitt and Ann refuse to show their tax returns for 2005-2009, since their accountants said they paid about 14%, the only reason to hide those returns is the IRS amnesty for rich tax cheats with secret Swiss accounts. After the UBS whistle blower case the IRS let rich tax cheats "pay the fine" instead of trial for the felony they committed. Maybe they should be in the big house rather than the White House.
