Gay Rights Supporters to Hold 'Kiss-In' at Chick-fil-A Today

Across the U.S. today, thousands from the GLBT community will be kissing at local Chick-fil-As in support of marriage equality.

On Wednesday, Aug. 1 thousands flocked to Chick-fil-A restaurants throughout the U.S. to support the company and its stance on traditional marriage. In July, Chick-fil-A CEO Dan Cathy and his company came under fire after he made anti-gay marriage comments in an interview with the Baptist Press.

Today, gay activists and supporters are planning a "kiss-in" at Chick-fil-As across the country.

According to the national event Facebook page,

In honor of their support for love, equality, and the real definition of family, we're holding a national Same Sex Kiss Day at Chick Fil A's around the country. So grab a friend (or 20) and head out to your nearest Chick Fil A!

We would also like to clarify that this event was NOT created as a response to Mike Huckabee's appreciation day, this event was created on July 19, several days before Mike Huckabee announced his plans for Wednesday August 1.

The events are scheduled for 8 p.m. EST. for, "showing Chick-fil-A our thanks for their support of love, equality and the real definition of marriage."

Chick-fil-A has restaurants across Florida, including on Road in Largo.

According to CNN, Wednesday's protest brought in terrific sales numbers for the critcized fast-food chain.

The chain won't release sales numbers, but "we can confirm reports that it was a record-setting day," said Steve Robinson, Chick-fil-A's executive vice president of marketing.

As long as they are paying customers I think Chik-A-fil will have no compliants. But if you're not spending, stay out!
