Police Warn Gulfport Residents of Phone Scam

Several complaints about suspicious phone calls are prompting police to warn residents about a possible scam.

The Gulfport Police Department is warning residents about suspicious phone calls, "where the caller requests access to their computer," according to the department's Facebook page.

Officers believe the calls could be a scam to gain personal information, "which could be used for identity theft."

Officials are using the Gulfport Police Department's Facebook page to warn residents. "Do not be a victim of this or any other scam. Please do not allow remote access to your computer from anyone you do not know," the post reads.
