"& Gallery" One-Year Anniversary Celebration and Gary Clark Art Opening

Domain Home Accessories & Gallery will host a reception to celebrate the one-year anniversary of its own “& Gallery” space.  Coinciding with the celebration, “Earth friendly” local artist Gary Clark will be on hand to showcase a selection of his recent work.  The event will take place at “& Gallery” (3129 Beach Blvd. South in Gulfport) on Saturday, September 21st from 6 to 10 p.m.  Complimentary beverages and hors d’oeuvres will be offered.

For over 12 years, Domain Home Accessories has offered a unique assortment of merchandise, becoming a treasured merchant in the heart of Gulfport’s Waterfront Arts District.  The keystone of this small, independent business has always been original art work, with an emphasis on functional art for the home.  Housed in its small, colorful quarters are floor to ceiling displays of home décor, lamps and lighting, jewelry, kitchen ware and entertainment accessories, pottery, glassware, decorative hardware, candles, bath and body products, gifts, cards and much more.  The shop is well-known as a supporter of local art and artists, as well as the “go-to” location for a selection of unique items and gifts unavailable elsewhere.  Last September, Domain Home Accessories acquired the adjacent retail space, with the combined business now named “Domain Home Accessories & Gallery.”  The remodeled one-year-old space serves as one of Gulfport’s finest art galleries, representing a large number of local and regional artists.  .

For this special occasion, Domain will host a “Meet the Artists” event highlighting the work of familiar local artist Gary “Gar” Clark.  Using seashells and found objects, Clark hand-carves unique “dream world” images into acrylic paints on recycled boards.  He grew up in Buffalo, New York, spending much time on the shores of the Niagara River.  In these experiences, he felt a sense of flow, a sensation which permeates his abstract artistic creations.  He earned an M.A. from the University of Buffalo and has taught art in universities and in corporate settings.  He honed his style of painting in the U.S. Virgin Islands.  He has been a familiar fixture as a participant in Gulfport’s Art Walks for many years, first setting up at the event in 1998.  Clark estimates that he has sold thousands of paintings during Art Walks and other art shows and festivals over the years.  He is currently completing a new book, “Art of the Image,” on deepening the imagination to create more primal and provocative art works.  Links to a preview of the book, his other writings and galleries of his work are available on his website at angelfire.com/id/art.
