5 Things to Know in Gulfport: RV Ordinance, Golf Sponsors Needed, Resurfacing Streets

Gulfport City Council approved first reading of a less rigid city ordinance regarding RV storage in residential areas. That and more in "5 Things to Know Today."

RV Storage: Gulfport City Councilors unanimously voted to approve an ordinance regarding RV storage during first reading on Tuesday night. The proposed ordinance, 2012-20, would allow owners to have more than one recreational vehicle on their property. Read more about the ordinance on the City of Gulfport's website. Microsurfacing Streets: Microsurfacing will be conducted on the following streets in Gulfport:

  • 18th Ave S. (From 49th St. - 52nd St.)
  • 50th St. S. (From 25th - 26th Ave)
  • 51st St. S. (From 25 th - 26th Ave)
  • 11th Ave S. (From 58th - 64th St S.)
  • 52nd St. S. (From 10th - 11th Ave)
  • Beach Boulevard S. (From 22nd - 28th St)
  • 59th St. S. (From 22nd - 27th Ave)
  • 55th St. S. (11th - 15th Ave)
  • 8th Ave S (49th - 54th St S.)

Gulfport City Councilors approved a contract with Asphalt Paving Systems, Inc. on Tuesday night.

Win $10,000 for Hole in One: There's still time to sponsor a hole or sign up for the Bogie Baseball Golf Outing at the Isla Del Sol Yacht and County Club on Saturday, Oct. 20th. The funraising event will benefit Boca Ciega High School Baseball. Organizers are asking for $100 sponsorships for hole signs and tickets to enter are $80 per person. Retirement Party: Everyone is invited to the Gulfport Senior Center on Friday at 10 a.m. for a retirement party for Senior Center Supervisor Sue Frank. Frank has been with the center for more than 20 years and will be retiring this week. Gail Biron, Technical Events Specialist for the City of Gulfport, will be the new Senior Center Supervisor. Congratulations to both of you! Hope to see everyone at the party on Friday.
