Halloween Events in Gulfport 2012

From costume contests to haunted attractions, we have plenty of suggestions for Halloween in and near Gulfport!

Looking to get spooked? Want to put on your best costume or dress up your furry friend? Well, there's plenty to do on All Hallows' Eve.

Everyone is invited to the annual Doggie Halloween Party from 6 - 10 p.m. in the Art Village Courtyard. The contest begins at 7:30 p.m. Dogs will be judged in four categories:

  • Small dogs
  • Medium dogs (20 to 40 lbs)
  • Large dogs

Prizes will be awarded to first, second and third place in each size category.  Best of show will be judged from among the three first place winners. Spooktacular Halloween Bash at the Gulfport Recreation Center

The annual free family event at the Gulfport Rec Center will feature a haunted house, boo room for tots, carnival games and costume contest for children from newborn to 17 years old. The snack bar will feature pizza, potion and popcorn. The event is from 7 - 9 p.m. For more information call (727) 893-1068.

Teen Halloween Bash

Teens are invited to this free event at the Gulfport Public Library at 2 p.m. on Wednesday. Wear your costume and watch a scary movie!

11th Annual Halloween Costume Ball

Swing Time! presents a one-of-a-kind tradition at the Gulfport Casino Ballroom on Wednesday, Oct. 31 starting at 7 p.m. Put on your best costume and swing dance to Halloween beats. Learn the Shim Sham from 7 - 8 p.m. with special zombie styling. Then enter in the costume parade and contest for your chance to win cash and prizes. Categories include: Best, Scariest, Hottest, Funniest, Swingiest and Most Original.

Hull Street Haunted Trail

Experience pure terror at the Hull Street Haunted Trail on Wednesday, Oct 31. The Haunt is our treat and is free, but feel free to bring a canned good or small donation to help feed the hungry souls.

Field of Screams

TASCO presents the 7th annual Field of Screams featuring “Quarantine,” from 7 p.m. to midnight at Boyd Hill Environmental Studies Area, 2900 31st Street S. St. Petersburg. Want a sneak peek? Check out this past week's "Patch Minute" for a behind the scenes look!

Each night, “Quarantine” challenges participants to navigate through the dark woods, escape the village, break out of the decontamination tent, escape the safe house and flee to safety. Also featured is the “No Way Out” maze. Participants are exposed to darkness, loud noises, bright lights, wooded trails, and intense scare zones. May not be suitable for young children, parental discretion is advised.

Tickets are $10 for teens, $15 for adults, subject to availability. This year officials are taking credit cards as well as cash.
