GET OUT: Weekend Events Preview March 17-20

With a variety of entertainment venues and restaurants in the area, there's no reason to spend the weekend at home. We've put together a list of fun things to do in the Gulfport area.

  • Where/When: O'Maddy's Bar & Grille, 5405 Shore Blvd S. Thursday from 11 a.m. to close.
  • Why Go: Kick off your weekend a day early at O'Maddy's St. Patrick's Day celebration. The local hangout offers a full day of Irish fun with traditional foods such as corned beef and cabbage served with an array of drinks from green beer to Irish Car Bombs. 
  • Price: Food and drink prices vary.

  • Where/When: FreeFall Theater, 6099 Central Ave. Thursday at 7 p.m.; Fri.-Sat., 8 p.m.; Sunday at 2 p.m.
  • Why Go: Local actors reprise Swedish novelist and playwright, August Strindberg's drama, "Miss Julie." The play focuses on the relationships between man and woman dealing with class, love, lust, and manipulation, set in early 1870's Sweden. 
  • Price: $20-$47

  • Where/When: Blueberry Patch, 4923 20th Ave. S. Saturday from noon to midnight.
  • Why Go: Looking for some affordable entertainment this weekend? Enjoy 10 bands, great food and more at this 12 hour music and arts show. Featured bands include the  Funky Seeds, Free Range Roosters, Chris Sggamato, Shoeless Soul, and the Applebutter Express.
  • Price: $10 donation.

  • Where/When: Palladium Theatre, 253 5th Ave N. Saturday at 8 p.m.
  • Why Go: Guitarist Albert Castiglia will perform for one night only at St. Petersburg's historic Palladium Theatre. Castiglia will play original music from his forth album titled "Keepin' On" as well as covers of some of your favorite blues artists and classic rockers.
  • Price: $15 advance, $20 at the door.

  • Where/When: Jannus Live, 16 Second St. N. Sunday at 3 p.m.
  • Why Go: Tampa Bay's hit rock music station 97X hosts its Freebie Weebie Concert Series this Sunday at Jannus Live. Headlining the free outdoor bash will be Charlotte, NC rockers the Paper Tongues, along with performances by AWOLnation and the Marksmen. A block party benefiting St. Petersburg's fallen officers begins at 3 p.m. with a portion of all proceeds going to Suncoast Law Enforcement Charities. The live music show begins at 8 p.m.
