Gulfport Past & Present Expo & Open House today, Pinellas County Fair Opens Today and more in "5 Things to Know Today."

Gulfport Past & Present Expo & Open House: Come out to the Gulfport Senior Center today from 2 - 4 p.m. for the Gulfport Past & Present Expo & Open House. The event will to showcase the rich history of the Senior Center as well as the community. The Gulfport Area Chamber of Commerce and Gulfport Historical Society are partnering with the Senior Center to make this an event you won’t want to miss. Other Gulfport businesses/organizations are invited to participate. Call the Senior Center at (727) 893-2237 for more information.

Pinellas County Fair: The grand opening for the Pinellas County Fair is today at 5 p.m. at the Tropicana Field in downtown St. Pete. The event runs through April 1. There will be more than 50 rides, games, attractions and food booths. For more information check out the story, "Pinellas County Fair Heads to the Top."

SoStudio Tour 2012 Preview Exhibit: Many of us are familiar with the SoStudio Tour on May 12, but have you heard about the Preview Exhibit and Reception? There will be an open reception on Friday, April 6 from 5 - 7 p.m. at the Catherink Hickman Theater. Artists include: Janet Corrigan, Cheryll Grogan, Barbara Nicolazzo, Carol Pieszchala and artists of the Schork-Munsell Studios. Basic Drawing Workshop: , a City of Imagination Project, is proud to announce that we will once again offer a Basic Drawing Workshop with Joseph Weinzettle, MFA. This course introduces beginning students to basic drawing materials and concepts. Drawing techniques in this course include charcoal, graphite and ink. Class drawings will be based on direct observation of still lifes. Exercises will develop the students' skill in creating line, tone, volume and composition. Workshop will be held at the Gulfport Arts Center located at 2726 54th Street South, adjacent to the dog parks, on Saturdays from 12:30-2:30pm starting April 7 through the 28.
