5 Things to Know in Gulfport: Donate to Sandy Victims, Local Centers, Gulfport Families

There's still time to drop off donations at Gulfport On The Rocks for Hurricane Sandy victims in New Jersey. Also, we have more info on how you can recycle your holiday decorations in today's "5 Things."

Help New Jersey: Gulfport On The Rocks is accepting donations for Sandy victims in New Jersey. D'Cajun Roadhouse in St. Petersburg will pick up the box of donations from Gulfport On The Rocks on Sunday, Nov. 18. You're asked to drop off cold weather clothing, canned goods, blankets, toiletries and more by Saturday night. For more information contact Gulfport On The Rocks at 321-8318.

Tweet #PatchRebuilds: Patch is excited to announce our new effort to help support devestated communities after the storm. For every tweet sent with the hashtag #PatchRebuilds, we will donate $1 to the AmeriCares Hurricane Sandy Disaster Relief Fund, up to $125,000.

Donate Holiday Decorations: Feel free to drop off extra or unwanted Christmas or holiday decorations at the Boca Ciega Center at 1414 59th St. S. in Gulfport. Boca Ciega Center Activity Director Ruth Gruhn says they're happy to accept any donations to help decorate the center during the holidays. Food Pantry: The Gulfport Senior Center Food Pantry is in need of canned goods and pet food. The center helps about a dozen Gulfport seniors a week. Drop off donations at the center at 5502 27th Ave S. For more information call (727) 893-2237.
