5 Things to do This Weekend

Here's 5 Things to Know, the weekend edition!

One Act Plays: The Gulfport Community Players presents "Summer One Acts" at the Catherine Hickman Theater on Saturday and Sunday. For $15, you can watch 10 one act plays; comedies and dramas by local playwrights. Tickets are available at the Gulfport Casino Ballroom, Beach Bazaar and the Gulfport Area Chamber of Commerce. Also reserve seats by phone by calling (727) 322-0316.

Live Band & Ballroom Dance: Mario DeLeon's Band will kick off the evening at 7 p.m. at the Gulfport Casino Ballroom. Tickets are $7 per person for ballroom dance lessons followed by the live band. Doors open at 6 p.m. with lessons until 7 p.m.

Extreme Mud Wars: Created from 5,000 sandbags, 80 tons of soil, and eight fire hoses, Extreme Adult Mud Wars features eight team events for charity. Teams of 6 to 10 people (with at least two women) will compete in dodge ball, joust, belly bumpers, tug-of-war, Eliminator, ball crawl, football, and an obstacle course. Registration for the event at Spa Beach in St. Pete is full but anyone is invited to come watch. The event is Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Pass-A-Grille Art Mart: Held on the beach patio next to Paradise Grill and across from The Hurricane, browse fine art and handmade local crafts year-round from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Musical "Cabaret": The freeFall Theater Company presents this classic 1966 musical smash set in pre-war Weimar Germany. Go inside “the seedy world of a Berlin cabaret called The Kit Kat Klub,” where life begins to parody the politics outside, the theater says.
