Yummy's: 'Yes, We're Open'

Yummy's Casual Cafe in Gulfport is open, despite boarded up walls following Tropical Storm Andrea's wrath in June.

More than two months have passed since a tornado whipped through downtown Gulfport.

While the Waterfront District looks back to normal following Tropical Storm Andrea's unwelcomed visit in June, one Beach Boulevard business is still under construction because of that day's damage.

The owners of Yummy's Casual Cafe lost their patio when the 200-year-old Cedar tree crashed down on the building on June 10. They opened up less than 24 hours after the storm, but say people still think they're closed.

"We're open," Richard Reale, co-owner, said.

Reale says they've been open during regular hours, but because the west side of the restaurant has been boarded up - people think they're closed.

They plan to rebuild the patio, however, there's no news on the timeline - as owners continue to wait on several permits.
