Which Restaurant Is Best for Kids?

Parents know the places that not only welcome kids but have special menus with kid-size portions and meals to suit their tastes. Which Gulfport restaurant gets your vote? Take our poll.

Gulfport has a lot of great restaurants, including some that draw national attention from food critics. But it takes a very special restaurant to welcome families with affordable prices, kid-size portions and meals that suit both young and adult tastes.

This week's people's choice poll asks readers for their favorite restaurant for kids. Here is out list of choices:

If you don't see your favorite family restaurant listed, let us know in the Comments section and we will add it to the list.

The poll closes at 9 a.m. Friday, with the winner announced at noon.

This is the second week of Patch's "best of" poll, with O'Maddy's winning the top spot last week when Patch asked readers for the best place to have lunch outdoors in Gulfport.

This week's winner will get a big shoutout, a plaque worthy of hanging in the restaurant and a nifty article on the Gulfport Patch.

Let the voting begin!

last week you also only started the contest out with some of the restaurants. We, Pegs and other ones were added on later. That's the point. All or none. Otherwise you always will have some not so happy business owners in Gulfport. Like Cousin's Pizza... they were not included either. Hmmm.... you understand what I mean? I really don't care, but I read the comments and hear it from the customers. Not just my customers. No hard feelings, I hope you get my point.

There are restaurants in many neighborhoods in Gulfport; however the concentration of great, independently owned places to eat in the Waterfront area makes them the first to think of when Gulfport restaurants are mentioned so the more remote ones are easy to leave out of contests . As a voter in the two Patch contests, my problem was picking just one of the many restaurants my family really enjoys all year around. For example, it is very hard to think of a contest for which Pia's couldn't be my first choice or the Village Pub or Backfin Blue or. . . It seems to me that the rules used by other local Patches for these contests need to be tweaked to fit Gulfport better. And I really agree with Pia Geoff that the owners should be asked first, all restaurants should have equal time for voting and all restaurants should be included. An appropriate goal for Gulfport Patch would be to have a winner's plaque in every Gulfport restaurant for what Patch readers recognize as qualities unique to that place! Those of us who live in Gulfport are lucky to have so many dining choices. Supporting local dining is one way to keep those choices.

Yummy's rocks!!! The food is affordable AND amazing! There are so many choices and fun dishes for the little ones. The food court offers a relaxing place to eat, and plenty of room for the kids to run around! Plus, they get ice cream for dessert!!!!!!!

I own a business here, live here. I'm on the Board of Directors for the Chamber of Commerce and recently elected to the board for the Merchants Association. I am also the mother of a 12 yrs. old. I feel comfortable taking her to any of the forementioned establishments. At 12 (almost 13 she reminds me) she's not one to have the to run around. That being said... I've been to all of the above and they all have great choices for kids. Now that she is past the kids menu age it's not a concern. To me it depends on your specific dining needs. There is a difference between eating out and a dining experience. Kids (let's talk newborn to 11) like to eat out. They don't know the other. Anyhow... if mine were that young again for a casual dinners and the freedom to stetch ones legs (as a child) and cost I would choose Yummy's.
