No Food at the Inn, For a While

Find out why Gulfport's Peninsula Inn & Spa is shutting down its restaurant and bar for the next few months.

Gulfport's Peninsula Inn & Spa will not be serving food or drinks for the next few months at its on-site restaurants, which might be under new ownership when they reopen.

Peninsula Inn owner Jim Kingzett confirmed Monday the restaurant side of the house — Six Tables fine dining and Isabelle's Southern Cuisine — would be closed temporarily starting next week for renovations and improvements.

"We're gonna mop the floors and put in some new equipment," said Kingzett, who owns the business with his wife, Alex. "There may well be a new owner (when the restaurant reopens) but for now we're gonna continue."

A post on the inn's Facebook page earlier Monday said the business owners "are taking some much needed time to work on the Inn and turn over the keys to the bar and restaurant to a new operator in the fall. Please join us and stay tuned."

Kingzett was mum about future plans for dining and drinks at the historic inn but stressed the restaurants' closure would only be temporary and that they would reopen in the fall, new ownership or not.

"The inn is staying open. For most people, nothing changes. Just if you want to come in for some food, we'll see you in a few months."

Before the closure, the establishment will host a special performance of reunited blues duo Sterling Magee and Adam Gussow, aka Satan and Adam, starting at 7 p.m. Friday, July 5, during Art Walk.

Dale Williams performs Frank Sinatra hits on Saturday, July 6, and then the inn will host DJ Daniel for a "Wrap" Party on Sunday, July 7.
