Gulfport to Get a New Restaurant

St. Pete's The Boundary Restaurant will re-open on Beach Boulevard in January as the American Grille.

The Boundary: An American Grille, is closing in St. Petersburg after four short months. But the end actually marks a new beginning.

The eatery will re-open in January in Gulfport, as the American Grille.

Owner Jim Wilson informed The Boundary's Facebook followers:

"So I guess you've been wondering where we have been," Wilson wrote. "Well as of a bit more than a week ago I made decision to close The Boundary. For whatever reason it just did not do the business we had predicted and would not support a business of that size."

Wilson said that while he is shutting The Boundary's doors, he is moving his restaurant at the end of January to 2930 Beach Blvd., in Gulfport.

Coupons that patrons had for the St. Pete place will be honored in Gulfport.

"The restaurant will be named after a former restaurant I owned and loved, 'The Dish Neighborhood Bistro.' Jason (Kingsley) will still be with me as the chef and you will still see some of your favorites from The Boundary as well as Saturday & Sunday brunch, featuring some of your favorites from The Dish. If you have a purchased coupon such as CL deal, Deal Chicken or a Gift Certificate, it will be honored. Thanks for everything and we will see you soon."

In its short time The Boundary did make a positive splash in St. Pete, even taking home two Creative Loafing "Best of the Bay" awards. One, for "Best new chef you oughta know: Jason Kingsley" and then for "Best repurposing of a strip club."
