Extended Fresh Market Hours Begin Tonight

Starting today the Gulfport Fresh Market will be open until 8 p.m. on Beach Boulevard.

Starting today the Gulfport Fresh Market will remain open until 8 p.m. The new extended hours will be featured on the first Tuesday, beginning October 2nd.

Market organizers are instituting the evening hours in response to many residents and visitors commenting that they would love to enjoy the Fresh Market but are unable to do so because of their weekday work schedule. The Gulfport Tuesday Fresh Market will be one of the only Markets in the region to offer evening hours.

On first Tuesday evenings, special events are also planned to enliven the Fresh Market experience. On October 2nd beginning at 6 p.m., Chef and Author Laura Garrison will share her expertise on raw, vegan foods. Garrison has taught raw and vegan food classes for over 15 years. Her new book, Raw! Raw! Healing Your World with Raw Foods, is scheduled for publication later this year. Garrison will demonstrate raw foods preparations, dehydrating techniques and recipes, including the Fresh Market favorite, a marinated bok choy salad. She will take questions and offer food samples. Other cooking demonstrations and events are planned for each first Tuesday evening at the Fresh Market.

Over 50 vendors are present at the Fresh Market each Tuesday, day and evening, offering a variety of fresh produce, baked goods, cheese, seafood, Florida grass-fed beef, honey, sauces, desserts, and other unique and artisan foods. Shoppers may choose from ingredients to make their own dinner, or prepared foods that are ready to take home to heat and eat. As always, many other items are available from Market vendors, including hand-made bath and body items, jewelry, art work and crafts and much more. Live music is always featured during the Fresh Market and will also be part of the evening experience.

The village in which the Market takes place includes a variety of independent shops, boutiques, galleries and restaurants, all within walking distance. The cluster of restaurants in the village has become one of Tampa Bay’s premier dining destinations. Shops and restaurants will be open and will welcome Tuesday evening visitors. Parking is free and convenient. Parking is free and convenient. Gulfport’s Fresh Market is a community-spirited gathering in a small, "Old Florida"-style town, offering “food for your body and community spirit for your soul.” More information and photos can be found at www.gulfportma.com or on Facebook at www.facebook.com/gulfportfreshmarket.
