Introducing The Industrial Arts Center of Gulfport

Stop in and see the new and improved hot shop at the Industrial Arts Center of Gulfport! Board President Owen Pach is inviting everyone to stop in and see the new layout.

The center closed down earlier this month for renovations. During that time, Pach says he and a group of dedicated volunteers rearranged the shop, added more space for a gallery and built new equipment. Pach says adjustments on the furnace door and annealer. He says improvements with the furnace door will make the process more efficient and even save them money in the long run. After all, the furnace needs to reach 2,300 degrees to hold the melted glass.

The center is up and running and will be open tonight during the First Friday Art Walk from 6 - 10 p.m. Pach says they're kicking off a new special - create your own heart for $30 during the month of February. Stop by during any Art Walk or on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 6 and 9 p.m. and you can create a one-of-a-kind heart to give to your loved one this Valentine's Day.

Expect to see featured artists Owen Pach and Doug Doug Merritt create masterpieces tonight! Pach is going to demonstrate an ancient Venetian technique called switch axis encalmo! It dates back to the 1400's - you'll want to check it out! Remember, Art Walk starts at 6 p.m. in downtown Gulfport!
