First, the important news: The $50 million winning combination is: 54-43-13-11-23, and the Powerball was 4.
Thursday morning, the Florida Lottery disclosed that there was a St. Pete winning combination for Powerball, but it released the wrong numbers. One number in the winning combination was incorrect.
Instead of "13," the media release stated that third number in the combination was "14." Wrong! A few hours later, someone discovered the blooper. The $50 million blooper!
Let's hope that no one tossed away the winning ticket and the chance to be a multi-millionaire.
"It was a human error when the numbers were typed in the press release," said Shelly Gerteisen, Senior Public Affairs Specialist with the Lottery. "The Florida Lottery website and powerball.com website, as well as the draw results email that went out this morning all had the correct numbers in them."
The winning ticket was purchased as a Quick Pick at Sweetbay, located at 2139 34th St. North, in St. Petersburg. The retailer will receive $25,000 for selling the jackpot-winning ticket.
