Patch Minute: Sneak Peek at Midway Massacre Haunted House

I'm Cherlene Willis, and I'm going to take you behind the scenes at one of Gulfport's scariest haunted houses.

In Gulfport

Be sure to stop by Newton's Haunts at the 5600 block of Newton Ave S. There are two haunted houses. Watch the attached video and hear from Nolan Sloan with "The Midway." Stop by for a good scare and help a good cause. Sloan says they're asking for $2 per person to help raise money for the Fire Explorers Post 945. There's also a special bonus this year! For $5 you can go through the haunted house with a firefighter. So, if there's any ladies out there who's affraid to go in alone, donate a little more and get an escort to help you through.

Sanitarium is open from 7:30 - 10 p.m. and the Midway is open 7:30 - 10:30 p.m. Check out the following dates for both haunted houses:

• Oct. 19, 20
• Oct. 26, 27

In St Pete

If you're not quite ready for Halloween, we have the 3rd annual St. Pete Okotberfest this Friday and Saturday in the Grand Central District. The street festival will be at 2200 Central Avenue and will include beer tastings and live music. Tickets are $25 in advance, $35 at the gate. To buy tickets check out the event's website.

In Pass-A-Grille

In Pass-a-grille we have a family tradition that's been filling bellies for more than 80 years. The 82nd Annual Fish Broil and Mullet Festival is this Saturday.

What I think it really cool is that the fish has been cooked the same way since 1930.

The carnival begins at 3 p.m.
