He's 30 years old, camera shy and was in no rush to claim his $50 million winning Florida Lottery ticket.
That is what's known about the St. Petersburg mystery man who was declared the winner today of a $50 million Powerball jackpot that so many people wished they had but that had gone unclaimed since Dec. 26, 2012.
Christopher McGurran of St. Petersburg stepped forward to claim his winnings today. But he declined to have his publicity photo taken when he was declared a winner in the Florida Powerball Lottery.
McGurran will receive a one-time, lump-sum payment in the amount of $32,446,463.
He bought the ticket at Sweetbay, at 2139 34th Street North, in St. Petersburg. The winning number combination was announced the day after Christmas, as well as the location of where the ticket was purchased. But no one came forward – until now.
The Florida Lottery retailer received a bonus incentive of $25,000 for selling the top-prize winning ticket.
Who's the next winner? The next Powerball drawing is tonight, January 9, at 10:59 p.m., with a $70 million jackpot.
