$50 Million Powerball Ticket Sold at St. Pete Sweetbay

The $50 million winning ticket was sold at the Sweetbay located at 2139 34th St. North in St. Petersburg.

A Sweetbay shopper in St. Petersburg is now $50 million richer.

A winning Powerball ticket was purchased at the Sweetbay at 2139 34th St. N.

According to the Florida Lottery, the winning $50 million Powerball ticket was sold at the store.

The drawing was held Dec. 26, and the winning numbers were 54-43-14-11-23 and the Powerball was 4.

The ticket was sold as a quick pick.

"This is Florida's fifth Powerball jackpot winner, adding to our record of the most Powerball winners of any state since the game was introduced in Florida in January 2009," said Florida Lottery Secretary Cynthia O'Connell in a news release. "It is also a big win for public education. Saturday night's drawing generated more than $2.9 million for the Educational Enhancement Trust Fund."

Sweetbay will receive $25,000 for selling the jackpot-winning ticket. 

The Florida Lottery Powerball jackpot winner has 180 days from the date of the drawing to claim the prize. However, to elect the one-time, lump-sum cash payment option, the claim must be filed within 60 days after the winning draw date, according to Florida Lottery.
