Today in Gulfport: $800 for Gulfport Students, Clothing Swap, Kids Night

It's Tuesday, August 13! Here's what you need to know "Today in Gulfport."

HELP GULFPORT STUDENTS

You can help fund a ton of school supplies for Gulfport Elementary Students! The Gulfport Area Chamber of Commerce and America's Office Source are sponsoring "Operation A Gift for Learning." So far, more than $800 has been donated to the cause!

"We are looking for donations from Chamber Members and others so that America's Office Source can use its extraordinary purchasing power to buy needed supplies for the school children 70% of whom come from families with below poverty level incomes. So far, we have raised over $800 which, with the ability to buy supplies at cost and the prospect of some matching grants from suppliers will result in a lot more supplies than can be given by any other means," according to the Gulfport Area Chamber of Commerce.

Anyone donating $5.00 or more will receive an Enjoy the City CityBook that's full of area discount coupons that are good through Dec. 31, 2013.

Drop off your donations at the Gulfport Area Chamber of Commerce at 4926 Gulfport Blvd. S. or America's Office Source Store at 5014 Gulfport Blvd. S.

CLOTHING SWAP

Everyone is invited to the Gulfport Free Clothing Swap on Tuesday, August 13. On the second Tuesday of each month, people are invited to bring up to five gently used garments to exchange for vouchers to be used to select clothing at the event.
