I confess, as a kid I didn’t really get Dr. Martin Luther King’s “I have a dream” speech or his notions of tolerance and non-violent resistance. I was too young to grasp those concepts, and contrary to popular belief, there was no Internet or cable TV. I couldn’t flip on CNN or Google him to watch his latest speech. It wasn’t until high school that his name and his legacy really came before me in a meaningful way - I read about him in a textbook, feeling both interest and admiration over this man’s fight for equality.
