Thursday, we woke up early and headed to Colorado Springs to visit the Broadmoor where my Great-Great-Aunt-Joan, and my Grandfather worked in the 50's. It is such a beautiful and historic hotel.
After that we went to the Cog Railway where we took an 8.9 mile ride on the train up to the very top of Pikes Peak. It was 80 degrees down at the bottom, and 42 with a windchill of 37 at the top of the mountain. There was still a little bit of snow up there too!
There was, as my dad calls them, a "gotchya shop" and a restaurant at the top of the mountain. Although it wasn't a very pleasant ride up because there was a poor lady who had just had dialysis that morning and was sick the entire ride up. The only wildlife we saw were some marmots and some deer. After that we had some dinner at Panera then headed back home, we didn't get back until after 11 p.m.!
Friday morning, after breakfast, grandfather, mom, dad, my cousin Eric, and I went to the shooting range just up the road from our cabin! I shot a .380 and a .22, but my grandfather had a few other guns, on one the kickback was so bad that my cousin almost fell over backwards! After that, mom, dad and I ate lunch at the Patio Pancake Place, then went to the Tractor Supply Company Store. Then we went to the Salida Museum, which is kind of like our museum but a little bit bigger. Then we did a family dinner at the Fiesta Mexicana, and now we're back at the cabin to watch the Florida State Baseball game (Go FSU!!!) my cousin is FSU alumni, and I am a huge fan!!
Now the answers to Tuesday's trivia:
1. America The Beautiful
2. Damifino Mountain (Dam-ef-eno)
Here is today's trivia:
1. How many Cog Railroads are left in the country?
2. Where, in the United States are the remaining Cog Railroads found?
I hope everybody had a great week and has an even better weekend :)

So, I had never heard of a Cog Railroad until your post Elizabeth. So, I "googled" it and found a few- I see a Mount Washington Cog Railway, Pike's Peak - so I only found two, but I know there has to be more!

Mount Washington is the only one I knew about (being originally from New England). Somebody out there must know if there are more than these 2.
