Gulfport Mayor Mike Yakes has become a very familiar face in Gulfport, not only because of his title, but his involvement in the city he loves.

Mayor Yakes has served as mayor for 22 years and as a council member before that. Collectively, he will retire in March, 2013 with nearly 27 years under his belt.
