Gulfport Murder Documentary to Air in September
Investigation Discovery will show a special on Karen Gregory, who was stabbed to death in her Gulfport home more than 20 years ago.
Murder in Gulfport will take viewers back to 1984, during the investigation into Karen Gregory's murder. The 36-year-old was raped and stabbed to death in her Gulfport home.
In early June, a film crew with Investigation Discovery spent several days shooting reenactments of the days, months and years that followed Gregory's murder. Actors portrayed Lt. Larry Tosi Jr. and Detective Bill Brinkworth with the Gulfport Police Department, David Mackey, Gregory's boyfriend, and George Lewis, the man convicted of her murder.
Retired Lt. Larry Tosi Jr. and retired Detective Bill Brinkworth were also filmed and will appear in the hour-long documentary as they are today.
Tosi says the case has received local and national attention over the past two decades. "What's amazing is, there's still an interest after all these years."
The murder investigation is part of the series Unusual Suspects, and rightfully so, the lead detective in the case arrested a St. Petersburg firefighter, neighbor and personal friend, George Lewis, for Gregory's murder.
Murder in Gulfport will air on Sept. 25 at 10 p.m. Eastern on Investigation Discovery.
Season 2 of the series Unusual Suspects premiers on Aug. 14 at 10 p.m. Eastern on Investigation Discovery.
