Biden Addresses Sarasota and Bradenton Voters At Campaign Rally
Vice President Joe Biden stumps in Sarasota to address the president's jobs and economic plan.
Vice President Joe Biden greeted a crowd of nearly 1,400 packed into Sarasota's Municipal Auditorium Wednesday morning outlining a message about jobs and the economy.
But before he got started he put in a plug for Sen. Bill Nelson and for Keith Fitzgerald, who is running against incumbent Vern Buchanan for a seat in Congress. He also talked about the hurricanes and how all of the states and officials are working together to overcome the devestation from the hurricane.
"We're all better off when we're working together," he said. "After this election, I hope we'll do what we always did" Work Together."
This is Biden's first trip to Sarasota, since he visited Booker High School in 2008. Biden made a surprise stop to the Obama-Biden campaign office at Gillespie Avenue on Tuesday. This is Biden's 25th trip to Florida as Vice President and his 10th trip to Florida this year.
Biden wowed the Sarasota crowd with his speech which included specifics about medicare, women's health and equlity in the work place, the improving economy and the job market.
Lavonne Obery, a "proud Democrat" and Sarasota resident since 1972 who is going on the medicare rolls this year, said the Biden's speech was great.
"He said all of the things I wanted to hear," she said. "He focussed on specific issues, medicare, women's health, and equal pay. There were no generalities."
Biden was on the offensive against Romney, particularly about Romney's debate performance against Obama in Boca Raton.
"Eureka!" Biden said. "He found there was a binder full of qualified women!"
On foreign relations, with Russia, Biden noted Romney's reverse in stance with Vladimir Putin.
"All of a sudden he's Putin's best buddy. Bam!" Biden said. "Talkin' about Halloween."
With his various jobs, the vice president quipped, "I'm being good Biden today."
Rita Ferrandino, chairwoman of the Sarasota County Democratic Party, said the vice president's visit to Sarasota County proves the importance of Sarasota in the national election:
"Vice President Biden's visit to Sarasota Wednesday is proof that the race for Florida - and for Sarasota County - is competitive," Ferrandino said in a statement.
"Sarasota has traditionally been a Republican stronghold. However, as the Republican Party continues to move dramatically to the right with its stance on rape, women's rights, health care, education and other issues, voters are shifting their allegiance," she continued. "In fact, we expect to see more Republicans than ever voting for President Obama this year."
Pattie Lanier, a lifelong Democrat introduced Biden Wednesday morning. She has worked in campaigns since she was 13 when her mother let her distribute fliers for John Kennedy.
She is now a Medicare beneficiary who would not be able to afford the normal health checkups wihtout her benefits. She figures she would have to pay nearly $200 out-of-pocket for each check-up. She told the crowd that as a senior Obamacare has made a difference to her quality of life.
But she says it is the character of the President and the way Americans are admired in the world that motivate her to help give President Obama another four years in office. She feels there are a small handful of people around the world who can bring people together.
She went on to talk about Obama and Biden's stance on women's rights and fair pay.
"They know women are breadwinners for their families and deserve the same rights as their counterparts," she said.
Ferrandino also hopes that early voting receives a boost from Biden's visit.
"Early reports show that Democrats are closing the gap in Early Voting and voting by absentee ballot this year. Joe Biden's visit should help boost that trend, and we are encouraging voters to Early Vote today to make sure their voice is heard."
Democrats are encouraged by the more than 220,000 Democrats who have requested absentee ballots in Florida. There has also been an increase of 450,000 registered African American and Latino voters since 2008. They calculate that a gain of 220,000 absentee ballots plus 450,000 new African-American and Latino registrants are vital to Obama's chances in the Sunshine State since he won Florida in 2008 by just 240,000 or 3 percentage points.
In his warm-up remarks Edward James, a state organizer for the campaign, told the crowd that if Obama wins Florida, he wins the national election and "four more years."

NO, THANK YOU!
I don’t want Romney’s version of change including:
• A severely conservative Supreme Court.
• Tax and jobs plan that doesn’t make mathematical sense as most experts say.
• 1% percent control of the nation,
• Leader who says “corporations are people”, and puts the needs of corporations
before the people.
• Higher taxes for middle class and lower taxes for the rich.
• Medicare taken bankrupt in 2016, as reports indicate,
• Overturn of Roe vs Wade and return women’s right to the 1950s,
• Leader who condemns 47 percent of Americans,
• Leader with hot temper and controlling demeanor who is eager to start war against Iran.
I’m very pleased to stay with reliable, proven Obama-Biden who are taking America FORWARD - not back to the Bush years!

Florida voters and consumers, I am very disturbed at what i am hearing or more so what I am not hearing, and that is the direction the republicans plan to do with FEMA.
If the republican party does reduce and does get rid of FEMA, what help do you think citizens of Florida are going to get if a major storm again hits Florida. The state of Florida does not protect its citizens now. What makes anyone think that they will reponse in case FEMA is closed down and responses and help is left in the hands of Florida politics.
The rich can afford to leave in case of a major storm. They can afford the best ionsurance and can write off major loses on their taxes. Can you and others afford to take a major hit without help.
People like Buchanan care about themselves and their rich friends. They do not care about the middle class or the poor. Buchanan has shown this with his voting record.
Wake up Florida. Look at facts and evidence and stop listening to idle talk and promises.

The article quote that I agree with is "the Republican Party continues to move dramatically to the right with its stance on rape, women's rights, health care, education and other issues, voters are shifting their allegiance." I couldn't agree more. Even I was once a Republican, but that was when the party still had moderates in it. All of the extremist Republicans like the religious fundamentalists, the Tea Partiers, the anti-science groups, the Rush Limbaugh types, and those that sign the Grover Norquist tax pledge that protects millionaires from paying their fair share of taxes must go before I would ever consider voting for a Republican again.

However, I truly believe the media does whatever it can to please evil, ugly people like George Soros, who has his fingers in television, radio, newspapers, and even social media websites. Learn about that p.o.s. And even when he's gone, we'll have to deal with his children who are just as ugly.
At least with Romney, who was once called a RINO, we stand a chance because he WILL talk to the Democrats and he won't get everything he wants. If Obama gets back in, he'll continue to sign Executive Orders - or stamp his feet like a child - to get his way.

In Florida, voters register by party. If you actually lived in Florida, "Sandy" you would know that. Thus a count can be made by party about the number of Democrats requesting ballots so there would be no need to id individual voters. One other tool would be polls, but those are less accurate.

Sandy, Your comment that "Obama's followers will say and do anything to get that COMMUNIST back in office." sounds like the ridiculous talk that I hear from Republicans today. I think that listening to Rush Limbaugh and other right wing talk radio has made Republicans talk very foolish and it sounds uneducated to me. Pres. Obama is obviously not a communist. When you scream that your opponent is a "COMMUNIST", this is a type of bullying that Republicans consider to be normal in a political discussion. The more that I hear Republicans talk like this, the more that I am convinced that I made the right move when I left the Republican Party years ago.
Sandy

So...let's see: Obama's WHITE grandparents = COMMUNISTS; Obama's mother = COMMUNIST; Obama's "father" (the one he said fought in WWII) = Communist; backed by George Soros - Marxist, family-bashing, atheist (too much to put here, even libtards should know how to check him out on the Internet); main mentor during formative years - Frank Davis Marshall = Communist, pedophile, and more; loved studying works of Saul Alinsky, author of Rules For Radicals, is the hero of bloodless socialist revolution in America. During the 80's and 90's, Barack Obama learned, practiced and taught Alinsky's philosophy. ALL of this has been verified and out on the Internet for even libtards to research; but they won't because it doesn't fit their deluded vision of Obama. And why we're on it, why isn't the news telling us the truth about Libya BEFORE the election? Fortunately, we don't need them to do it...the truth is already out there and it's far worse than anything ANY Republican has ever done. BTW - I don't listen to radio talk shows or watch any of the "news media" Soros has got his evil hand in. YOU are the one who is deluded, Joe.

Sandy,
Under the assumption that Obama is a communist and that is a huge assumption. Though your logic sounds like you watched Obama 2016, which is as factually accurate as Feigheigh 9-11 (spelling). You are saying that the Legislature is going to allow us to turn to communism. Because the President doesn't create laws/bill that would be Congress. Second please do try to bring false information before the investigation into Libya is complete. It is currently being done by some very fine men and women who serve our country 24/7/365. There isn't enough Facts yet for an offical release. The investigation is not partisan, it just is an investigation. So before you start spouting off that you know the truth, when it's not fully investigated yet. Inless you have some mystical powers to know. And if you have said mystical powers why didn't you tell the Republican Congress not to reduce Embassy Security Funding and Protection. And inform the security and DoD that this incident out of the 1000+ they investigated for the same day was the one they should be worried about?

Sandy,
As someone who works with the DoD and has security clerance. Yes, it does need investigation. It's not a Romeny or Obama issue, it is an American issue. It took 3-4 years to properly investigate 9-11. It took a year to fully investigate everything behind the Bin Laden "capture". So I don't think we know everything about Libya in a little less than 2 months. These things do not happen in a vaccum. Were mistakes made, no doubt. I disagree with both politicans statements posts this incident. But to say we know all the facts or even enough to make a proper judgement. Is just inaccurate.

I saw Obama yesterday claiming the new job numbers are proof that his policies are working and that we are in an economic recovery... Fact is, that is not the truth, or even close to the truth...
First, the unemployment rate ticked up to 7.9% and the year-to-date monthly average of 157,000 payroll jobs is barely enough to keep up with population growth -- much less make up for the 8 million jobs lost during the Great Recession.
Second, the so-called real unemployment rate (U6) remains elevated at 14.6%, albeit down from 14.7% the prior month. Similarly, the labor participation rate is at 63.8%, up from its multi-decade low but still incredibly weak.
Third, average hourly earnings fell a penny in October and average hours worked fell to 34.4 from 34.5 in September.
Stagnant wages means "we're not generating income," Reinhart says. "That's a problem in terms of the durability of an economic expansion, which is usually fueled by consumption. To get consumption you've got to generate income."
Also, just look at your checkbook. We are paying a lot more for everything now than we did in 2008. The price of gas has doubled. At the same time, wages have gone down, and that's if you're lucky to have a job.
In 2008, 25 banks went out of business. In 2012, 48 banks have gone out of business. Almost double the amount. Does that sound like recovery to you? Don't believe the Obama lies!!

Personally, I think that all these comments only prove how divisive we all are. No matter who wins we will have a difficult time - I think Colin Powell said it right - in 4 years - Obama stablized the financial crisis that was looming when he took office, he delivered on health care reform (a mandate that put him into office), the decision to focus on Afghanistan to fight the real perpetrators of 9/11 (and accomplished what we all thought was the real mission of going to war in the first place -- get Osama Bin Laden), we need to move forward - patiently forward.
Who is WILLIAM BINNEY?
9:35 am on Sunday, November 4, 2012
You seem to be like others blaming Bin Laden for 9/11. Curious though, if he really was the mastermind, how come 9/11 wasn't included on his FBI Most Wanted page?
People, you do realize Bin Laden was never charged with being the mastermind behind 9/11? The FBI actually said there wasn't any evidence for this assumption. Colin Powell promised the evidence, but it was never produced. The only thing we "got" was an out-of-focus video with subtitles from a fat "Bin Laden" claiming responsibility, even though he immediately denied it after the attacks.
And if he was the mastermind, why allow his family to leave the US after the attacks? Bin Laden's plane was able to fly out of the country, but fighter jets weren't able to fly to protect the Pentagon? Hmmm.
It's INSANITY how the Govt/media can simply state something and it is now reality...fact...which makes sense, according to Karl Rove:
"That's not the way the world really works anymore. We're an empire now, and when we act, WE CREATE OUR OWN REALITY. And while you're studying that reality—judiciously, as you will—we'll act again, creating other new realities, which you can study too, and that's how things will sort out. We're history's actors ... and you, all of you, will be left to just study what we do."
The Nobel Peace prize winner can boast in killing the non-viewable corpse and we are to blindly believe because they told us he is swimming with the fishes?

You may think I am one of those craaaazy people for what I am stating, but it's true. I want others to realize the narrative being spewed is filled with lies and half-truths. For those who remember Orwells 1984, Bin Laden is Emmnauel Goldstein and Al-Qaeda is one of the Asias. Our taxpayers money backed CIA asset, Tim Osmon-aka Bin Laden, when they created Al-Qaeda to fight the Russians.....so the US backs them as allies.....and now we are to live in fear of them because they are going to attack US....but yet we are supposed to get behind the Al-Qaeda forces fighting in the Arab spring??
Folks, the Muslim Brotherhood is being placed into power.......using Al-Qaeda forces......and the US media is brainwashing the people to get behind them as if it's some glorious uprising of the little people to overthrow their masters. The reality is, the Western Imperialists are replacing their puppets with new ones.........and it's allowing for the the slaughtering of non-Muslims.
Christians have lived in these lands for 2,000 years, but now they are being killed or forced to exodus their homes. People in America seem to applaud the destruction of those dirty Arabs, oblivious to the ramifications for all. And for a country that continues to claim some sort of partnership with Israel, why back the overthrowing of regimes that actually lived somewhat peacefully with the Jews? They are overthrowing secular leaders to replace them with religious zealots and we are to applaud?

For those who question Bin Laden's death, here's some links to peruse. Many believe he was dead for years and the machine simply waited for the opportune moment to spring the death upon the people. Even if you believe everything coming from the Presidents mouth, how can you not question the lack of a corpse? Pictures? Anything substantial other than words from known liars? Well the Repub LIE KKK cons should be scared of Joe Biden. He is educated, well liked, and a respected figure in government. After Obama's second term finishes, Joe Biden will easily take the presidency himself. Perhaps for another 8 years too. And then all the Democrats who shined so brightly and with such conviction and eloquence at the DNC, will be strong contenders after Biden's 8 years in the White House. It could be Hell or Highwater before another Republican is in the White House again. They have become one of the most vicious, terrorist minded minorities in this country, from all walks of life. And folks are very clear on the fact that we do not ever want them to wrest control of our government again. There is no room in this world and a progressively moving USA and Europe Union to suffer at the filthy , coercive, corrupt, viscious hands of the far right . If you want to turn your society into something where this is the norm, may I strongly suggest you all move to : Mexico City, Columbia, Venezuela, and places of that ilk were corruption is on the menu and at the highest government levels possible. You all will fit right in just fine.

Still waiting for detailed answers from Obama:
(1) What are your plans for comprehensive tax reform?
(2) What are your plans for entitlement reform?
(3) What are your plans for overall spending reforms?
Why these questions: See CNBC's "Are we rich or poor?" debate (worth watching):

When I google CBO's long term projections, the current system is unsustainable. I'm not sure about Ryan's plan, but no plan is terrifying.

Did I hear correctly during VP Biden's debate when he asserted: "Obamacare makes medicare solvent to 2024". Did he mean 2124? That's 12 years from now and based on likely rosey projections. What are their plans to reform to extend and strengthen? Why didn't he respond to "Why not raise the age over time gradually?".
And then there are several states likely to ask the fed gov't to bail them out along with their unfunded pensions.
Where will they get the money?

Why would you be waiting for that stuff from Obama? We know his economic approach and all indicators show the economy improving. These are the things that you are more accurately waiting to hear from Romney, because nobody has any idea what his plans are.

Romney can’t be trusted, as Republican leaders, media and experts agree!
Gen. Colin Powell, a Republican and Sec. of State under President George W. Bush:
“I’m not quite sure which governor Romney we would be getting with respect to foreign policy.”

Who knows Romney better than anybody? How about the state who actually voted him in before, as Governor. So let's take a moment to look at how the only state who has any working knowledge about how Romney governs, is voting...
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2012/president/ma/massachusetts_romney_vs_obama-1804.html
The average of all polls, whether you believe some to be conservative or liberal leaning, still gives Obama a 20+ point lead. So my question is, why aren't more people paying attention to this? You can't shrug it off that it is MA and they always lean this way, because they voted Romney himself in as a Republican. The reality is that Romney can't even get close in this election in the only state that he has governed before, where the people actually know what you get if you vote for Romney. If he was the success that he pretends to be in MA, don't you think that he would be leading in MA or at the very least, have a close race going on there?

Hey Watts, all well and fine until you consider that MA is 87% registered Democrats.

Who have no problem voting for either party, as was seen by the fact that the elected Romney to begin with. No matter what you want to say, you can't paint MA voters as ideologues. They voted Romney, they replaced Kennedy with a Republican even more recently. You can use whatever broad stroke assumptions that you want to try and rationalize it, but the reality is that MA tested Romney and he failed and failed so badly that he can't even get the time of day from people in that state.

I wouldn't recommend just staying home, just because Romney is loosing. I am sure that there are plenty of local races and measures that need to be voted on. But, for anybody who may be more of a Libertarian at heart, who was only thinking of voting Romney when they thought that he had a chance, there is no reason not to be voting Johnson at this point. The Republican party is fractured. There are two distinct interests tearing it apart. There is need for more significant parties than the two party system that we now have. To reach that, the Libertarian party needs to find some significance in the final numbers in one of these elections. Then, once that happens, you will see the Republican party come back together, as those from the extreme wing of the party will feel more ideologically comfortable over in a more promenant Libertarian party. Right now, you have a real knuckle dragging constituency string arming the rest of the Republican party (through tools like Norquist) and the result is that the Republican party is loosing any respected claims of moderation or a centrist thinking. So the party has lost loads of significant and credible voices over the past several years. So that is why you need to get out there. If you are one of the talk radio/Glenn Beck ideologues, then go vote Johnson, build up that party and let the Republicans try to reconstruct their fractured party.

Cisco, You again make a false statement without any evidence to back up your false claim. The facts are that Mitt Romney vetoed over 800 measures passed by the Democrat-controlled legislature. According to the Boston Globe , in a television ad for his 2008 presidential campaign, Romney even gloated about it. ''I know how to veto,” he said in the ad. “I like vetoes. I've vetoed hundreds of spending appropriations as governor.'' The Legislature overrode Romney's vetoes 99.6% of the time. Romney was not well liked in Massachusetts and he left office with a low 34 percent approval rating. Romney was so unpopular that he did not even bother to run for a second term. Romney's claims of being bipartisan are just like all of the false claims that he is selling to the low information voters like you.
