Letter to the Editor From Mr. Louis Amandola

There has been word circulating within our town of Gulfport, of some 'newbiees' seeking to impose their personal views and desires on those who have lived here for many years as well as those born here. It seems that the old hometown feel of having an RV, boat or recreational vehicle parked on your own property does not appeal to some.

I can only suppose that it stems from the mantra that, 'if I can't have it, no one else can.' How sad, that this type of imposition of views is flowing throughout this country.

Recreational vehicle owners are responsible people, who are homeowners, taxpayers, licensed and insured people paying their fair share and only trying to live out the 'American Dream'. Albeit for those who are continually trying to impose their will on others. "AAAARGH!"

I would like to bring to the forefront that, if any vehicle is abiding by the laws, rules and regulations of a community that there should not even be a discussion. IE- If a vehicle is properly inured and is abiding by Fire and Life Safety codes within it's juristiction, why are we even having this discussion?

I would humbly suggest to those who are unhappy with their surroundings that they might perhaps move into a gated community where they would be much happier.

Sincerely Yours,

Louis Amandola

I third it. If the uniqueness of Gulfport and the way it looks bothers people then they should move instead of trying to make it just like everywhere else.

Mr. Amandola, our Gulfport properties are , more often than not, small bungalows and/or 1950's ranch style homes. Still small. If a home owner parks a mid size RV in the driveway next door, they have created a shadow so large it will block the sun and light from the neighboring property. I would say allowing a homeowner to get light in their home is much more important than parking an RV. Let's all be considerate of our neighbors.
